If you purchase the hinge groove boards in used condition, you will be able to see the pictures- They are marked and used with chips. If you would like to see the pictures, please kindly contact our team member.

Please note these boards are handmade, so they will have some natural marks on the surface from the wood. It is not damaged marks.

A clean and straight hinge groove - where the covers hinge against the spine - greatly adds to the appearance of a well-made book. A straight-line hinge of consistent depth and width is easily achieved by the use of these specially made hinge-setting boards. sold as a pair for the front and back of the book.  Once the initial groove is formed (usually with your bone folder), the book is then placed between these two boards such that the slightly protruding aluminium ledge fits into the hinge. The book with boards affixed in this way, is then inserted into the press.  If required, the depth of the hinge can be lessened simply by placing a thin cardboard packer between the board and the book.
